5 Lies You Should Never Fall For

We currently live in a day and age where you need to be extremely careful when dealing with others. You just never know when someone is lying to you, and people fall for lies all of the time. They may be small lies that don’t cause much or any harm, or they may be lies in the form of scams that do cause a great deal of harm. Either way, you need to know what to look out for. On that note, the following information will provide you with five (5) lies that you should never fall for.

The IRS Is Calling You Because You Failed To Pay Your Taxes

A great deal of people are falling for the following scam. You receive a call from a strange number and they claim to be an IRS agent. They claim that they never received your yearly income taxes. The so-called agent may even threaten to have you arrested for it. Even though you know for a fact that you filed your taxes, you comply because you are under the false impression that you’re speaking with the IRS, which makes most people incredibly nervous. The scammer will than ask you to confirm your Social Security number. If you do, they have successfully stolen it from you. Keep in mind that the IRS does not make phone calls. They send letters.

Your Bank Sends You A Random Email

Another scam that is making the rounds is based on the following. Your bank sends you a random email asking for you to confirm your bank account number. The email looks official; it even has your bank’s logo on it. The email may even state that the reason they’re asking you to confirm your bank account number is due to the fact that they are performing a security check. Do not fall for this.  It is a scam. Your bank would never send an email asking you to provide them with your account number.

A Prince From Overseas Wants To Give You Millions Of Dollars

Good news! There is a prince who lives overseas who wants to give you millions of dollars out of the kindness of his heart. Yes you are the lucky one. The only thing you need to do is pay a few fees upfront so that he can have the money wired directly into your bank account. If this sounds too good to be true it’s because it is too good to be true. Do not fall for this scam.

The Check Is In The Mail

A man from the Unites States, a man from Canada, and a man from the Czech Republic are hiking in the woods when they run into a male bear and a female bear. The male bear eats the man from the Czech Republic. The female bear eats the Canadian. The American calls the police, but the bears take off before they arrive. Naturally the police think the American had something to do with the grizzly scene and don’t believe his story. The moral of the story is to never believe a person when they say the Czech is in the male even if it’s true.

The Lies Told By Collection Agencies

If you owe money to a collection agency, chances are that you will receive endless calls, letters, emails, and even texts from them in order to attempt to collect the debt. You need to keep in mind that most collection agents are one step above scam artists. In essence, they will tell you a bunch of lies in order to get you to pay the debt or make a partial payment of the debt while they have you on the phone. Do not fall for the lies told by collection agencies. For example, they cannot have you arrested if you fail to pay the debt. It’s important that you know your consumer rights.

If you feel that you are being treated unfairly by a creditor or collection agency, the good news is that you can do something to stop it. Your days of those harassing phone calls, letters, emails, and text messages can be over. You just need to go about it the right way.
