Perhaps you’ve been receiving phone calls from other numbers that you simply do not recognize? If so, it may very well be Comenity Bank’s in-house collections and billing departments. Do you know why they may be calling you so frequently? It’s because you owe them money. Comenity Bank is the company behind a great deal of those store credit cards that you may have signed up for. Comenity Bank is a major player in the credit card world. In fact, they have a total of 93 store credit card programs for some of the top retailers in the United States.
Although you may not have heard of them, chances are you have a credit card with them. Comenity Bank has issued well over 50 million credit cards, and the vast majority are store branded credit cards. Typically speaking, it is easier to get approved for a store branded Comenity Bank credit card when compared to some of the more famous credit card company names. In essence, Comenity Bank may very well approve you even if you have less than perfect credit scores. If you are in this credit category and you do a lot of shopping, it can certainly be tempting to take out a store branded credit card.
However, a lot of people with store branded credit cards end up falling into the buy now and pay later trap. At some point you may have bitten off a little more than you can chew when it comes to paying the credit card balances or even keeping up with the minimum monthly payments. By the way, if you’re only paying the minimum monthly payments it means that you’re only making interest payments on the debt. You are not reducing the balances of the debt, but that’s a lesson for another day.
If you haven fallen behind on your credit card payments and or have a large past due balance, that is the reason why Comenity Bank’s in-house collections and billing departments have been calling you. The thing is, in some cases they are actually breaking the law when contacting customers about their past due debt. This is due to the fact that there are a strict set of rules and regulations that have been put in place by the federal government in order to protect you and your rights. For example, if a telemarketer or debt collector uses a robo call system and or an automatic dialer system when calling you on your home phone or cell phone they actually need your permission to do so.
Have you received robo calls from Comenity Bank’s in-house collections and billing departments? If so, have you given them permission to contact you in this manner? If not, they are in violation of your consumer rights. That means you can actually sue them in a court of law. You may very well be compensated for the troubles that they have been causing you. In essence, it is a form of debt collection harassment. Although companies have a right to attempt to collect debt that you owe them, they are not allowed to harass you in any way when making those attempts.
That includes making robo calls and using auto dialers. It even includes leaving countless messages on your voicemail. The bottom line is just because you owe them money, it does not give them the right to make your life miserable. It does not give them the right to make your life more stressful that it already is. It does not give them the right to make you feel awful about yourself.
